Ms. Era Leticia Woods, 74 of Charlotte, passed away on Tuesday March 19, 2019 at Novant Health-Presbyterian. She was born August 25, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. Her mother & father were: Edna "DAISY" Green-Williams September 20, 1907 of Alexandria, Louisiana & Shannon Lewis Collins Sept. 20, 1905 of Birmingham, Alabama. Both Parents Preceded Her in Death.
Era was raised on Chicago's South Side & was educated in Chicago Public School System. Growing Up, Era was always a happy child, sharing her laughter & love with everyone she encountered. Her sandy hair color caused her to be affectionately called "Red." To this day, everybody knows her for her beautiful, vivacious smile, & her caring spirit. Her smile & giving hugs were her Trademark Characteristics! Era was always a pleasure to be around!
Era & some of her family members--Who were shipping in Chicago's Loop Area met Lawrence Wood, who was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He joined the US Amy & was visiting Downtown Chicago while on Military Leave. Era positive attributes caught Lawrence's attention when he first saw her while standing in a movie ticket line. Lawrence was soft-spoken man yet, articulate & intelligent. From that day on they became a couple. Later married on August 25, 1960. During this Union, They were blessed with 6 children: Rodney "Bo" Woods, Venita "Candy" Houston (Alexis), Sharron L. Woods, Lawrence Woods, Jr., Carl Devan Woods & Yolanda Yvette Woods. The Woods Family Relocated to Southern Sunny Charlotte, North Carolina from Northern Chicago after Lawrence accepted a job promotion offer of "Transportation Distributor" Management Position with Sandoz Chemicals.
Era and Lawrence continued to reside in Charlotte, North Carolina and supported their family until his heath declined. Mr. Lawrence Woods passed away to eternity July 28, 2010.
Era Leticia Woods leaves her 5 Dear Children, Candy, Sharron, Lawrence, Carl & Yolanda. 15 Wonderful Grandchildren, 24 Precious Great-Grandchildren & 1 beloved great, great, great Grandchild. Life-Long Friend, Mrs. Melba Straight and numerous dedicated Nieces & Nephews to treasure her memories.
