Esther Mae Shepherd White, 85, formerly of Charlotte, North Carolina, entered eternal rest on July 22, 2022 at her residence.  She was born October 10, 1936 to the late Herman Shepherd, Sr. and Clara Faust Shepherd.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Shepherd and Lonnie May Shepherd; four brothers, Willie James Shepherd, John Shepherd, Herman Shepherd, Jr. and Joseph Shepherd, Sr.; and three daughters Clarine Howard, Cynthia White and Zavia Willie Logan.

Esther was a very special lady ("Firecracker").  She loved to cook and bake and she enjoyed shopping.  She was a very hard working woman; she was always there when anyone needed her.  She loved taking care of children.  Esther loved to be in the kitchen.  She taught all of her grandchildren gardening, fishing, and sewing.  It is what she loved to do.  Her family admired her for her strength.  She was a tremendous role model for her entire family.

Esther retired from Walter Reed Military Hospital in Washington, D.C.  She worked as a nurse.  She also retired from ACTS Health Care in Pineville, NC where she was a private nurse.

Left to cherish fond memories are one sister, Ruby Strickland; five grandchildren, Rsheena White, Anthony White, Damien Howard (Antoinette), Sade Howard, Tre Jackson; goddaughter, Tanya Smith; nine great-grandchildren, Rasheid White, JaTayia White, Semaj Howard, Tah-Lee Futrell, Nori Howard, Serenity Boyd, Brice Howard, Ava Howard and Sha-Lee Howard; two great-great-grandchildren, Zora White and Alanna Purgee; and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
