Evelyn Bradshaw, 89 of Charlotte, departed this life on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Mecklenburg Health Care.  She was born on December 8, 1932 to Roosevelt and Edna Patterson Bradshaw, who were among the founders of Greenville Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church (now Greenville Memorial A.M.E. Zion).  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Roosevelt B. Bradshaw, Robert Bradshaw, and sisters, Louise B. McLean, Theordria B. Bryant.  Evelyn was dedicated to the service of her church and became actively involved at an early age.  She was a member of Missionary Circle #3, Class Leader, Sunday School teacher, as well as a member of the Board of Christian Education.  A dedicated deaconess, she sang soprano in the church choir as served as an usher.

After graduating from West Charlotte Sr. High School in 1954, she continued her education at Carver College, graduating in 1957, receiving an Associate's Degree.  Her class motto was "Silver and gold will fade away, but a good education will never decay."  Her ambition was to become a Registered Nurse.  In her early career, she was employed as a domestic and afterwards worked at a textile plant.  Later she worked in packaging at Merita Bakery where she retired.

Loving memories of Evelyn's life will always be treasured by her family and friends.  She leaves to cherish fond memories, her nieces, Deborah B. Smith of Raleigh, A. Michelle Bryant of Charlotte, Robin N. Bradshaw of Maryland, and Tangela B. McIlwain of Shelby; and her nephews, Danny Young (Mary) of Huntersville and Wayne L. McLean (Rochelle) of Charlotte. In addition, she was survived by three great-nephews, six great-nieces; five great-great-nephews, five great-great-nieces and a host of relatives and friends.
