Evelyn Bonner Bragg

Evelyn Bonner Bragg, 97, of Charlotte, NC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 25, 2025, while a resident of Shad's Landing Independent Living Center.

Evelyn Bonner Bragg was born on September 20, 1928, to the late Thomas and Carrie Lee Evans Bonner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

Evelyn received her formal education in the public schools of Philadelphia and graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls. She continued her education in biblical studies at Manna Bible Institute, where she met Hardy A. Bragg. She graduated in 1952.

She was employed by the Federal Government for 31 years, and retired as a Prosthetics Clerk from the VA Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Mrs. Bragg was converted to Christ at age 15 while attending Christian Union Church. In later years, she joined High Street Church of God and Nazarene Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent and member of the choir. She relocated to Charlotte, NC in 1985 with her beloved husband and they joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in 1985, where she was active in the Sheepfold of Bartholomew and the Senior Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy A. Bragg, Sr.; four siblings, Fame Bonner, Carrie Green, Leroy Bonner, Phillip Bonner; and a grandson, Jason Bragg.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Hardy A. Bragg, Jr. (Rosa) of Philadelphia, PA and Kenneth Bragg of Huntersville, NC; one grandson, Michael Bragg (Tia) and one great-grandson, Caleb Bragg, of Hagerstown, MD; one granddaughter, Eva Joy Bragg of Lancaster, PA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
