Ms. Evelyn Camp, 70, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Mercy Hospital.

Evelyn Rhoades Camp was born February 12, 1954, in Wilson, NC, to the late Charlie and Ida Lee Rhoades. She was raised on the family farm with her three siblings, Thelma Bailey, Carolyn Frye, and Timothy Rhoades (Walidah).

She graduated from Fike High School in 1972 and Barber-Scotia College in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In 1980, she married Donnell Camp.  Together they raised three children, Jabari Camp, Donelyn Camp and Charlee Camp.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed many career opportunities, working as a police officer, special needs caregiver, and finally, as an insurance agent for Allstate Insurance Company. She enjoyed watching NBA basketball games, especially the LA Lakers, gardening, and collecting glassware and antiques.

A source of great joy for her was her eight grandchildren, Lauren, Titus, Niara, Anya, Calee, Jodonn, Nayeli, and Aubrey. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will be celebrated by her children and siblings, along with her special companion, Michael Scarboro.  Her life is celebrated by a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
