Evelyn Grier Gonzales, loving wife, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, cousin and dear friend to many, departed her earthly body to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, May 6, 2019.  Evelyn was born August 18, 1936, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Albert Grier and Geneva Grier.

Evelyn attended Second Ward High School.  She worked in laundry service for 35 years in New York.  She relocated to Charlotte, NC and she went to work at Providence Day School for a number of years before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert Gonzales; her son, Tony Grier; three brothers, Terry Jones, Robert Grier, Albert Grier, Jr. (Bobby); one step-son, Bobby Gonzales, Jr.; other family members and friends.

She leaves to cherish her legacy two sisters, Ms. Catherine Grier, Ms. Betty Gilmore (Mr. James Ray); one brother, Danny Jones (Missy); one step-son, Joey Gonzales (Monica); one step-daughter cousin-in-law, Ms. Carolyn Burgess; other cousins, special niece and nephew, Leroy and Joyce Reid and Octavia Grier; other nieces and nephews; three grandchildren whom she truly loved and cherished; and many friends.
