Famous O. Feaster, 65 of Charlotte, passed away on Monday October 19, 2020 at his residence.
Famous O. Feaster was born to Columbus and Ethel Jay Feaster on February 1, 1955, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Famous was welcomed into the family by his brother T.C., and three sisters—Pernell, Enlois, and Gloria. During the next 6 years, Famous became a big brother himself and helped his siblings to welcome two new little brothers into the family---Tyrone and Selwyn.
Throughout his life Famous was a lovable, fun-loving, and humorous person. People were drawn to Famous not only because of his name but also because of his magnetic personality. Everybody loved Famous---his family, his friends, his church family, and every child that he met--- and Famous loved them. At any family gathering, Famous was the person who would have everybody laughing with his stories about family and his personal experiences.
Famous was a kind-hearted man with a generous spirit. Famous gave of his time, money, and talents to those he loved. This was evident as he became a father-figure to LaShandra "Meanie-Beanie" Scott and Marlon Browning when they were very young. His fatherly love continued years after, which positively impacted their life.
Celebrating His Love for His Wife
While furthering his career at Systems Associates Incorporated, Famous met Cindy Knox. When they first met, their lives were seemingly on somewhat different paths. Little did they know that the Lord had a plan. As they worked side by side, they began to learn about each other and grow together-- becoming the best of friends. After a few years of Famous and Cindy being on somewhat different paths, it became obvious that the Lord had chosen Famous and Cindy to be partners for life. Their friendship evolved into a relationship made in heaven and orchestrated by the Lord. Famous was a perfect gentleman; and, in 1999, Famous asked Cindy's father Marshall Knox for permission to make Cindy his wife. On August 14, 1999, Famous and Cindy were joined together in holy matrimony. Famous loved Cindy with all of his heart, and Cindy loves Famous with all of her heart. The love they shared was evident when witnessing them together. Through the years of their relationship, they learned that true love is patient and kind--it does not envy or boast. True love does not dishonor others and is not self-seeking. True love does not keep record of wrong and does not delight in injustice but rejoices with the truth. True love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. True love never fails!
Celebrating His Education and Career
Famous received his formal education in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where he attended Double Oaks Elementary (Grades 1-3), Druid Hills Elementary (Grades 4-6), John T. Williams Junior High, Garinger High School (Grade 10), and West Charlotte High School (Grades 11-12). In 1973, Famous became a proud graduate of West Charlotte High School.
After high school, Famous entered North Carolina Central University, in Durham, North Carolina, graduating in 1977, with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. In 2017, Famous returned to NCCU to celebrate his 40th Class Reunion.
Upon graduation from NCCU, Famous was recruited by National Cash Register (NCR) in Dayton, Ohio, to work in computer science. A few years later, Famous returned to Charlotte, working in Information Technology (IT) at Systems Associates Incorporated. He furthered his career in IT at McKesson Corporation for approximately 30 years. After leaving McKesson Corporation as a semi-retiree, Famous worked part-time in retail at Tuesday Morning--rising to become an assistant manager. Because Famous also loved to work in real estate, he began his own business as an entrepreneur in real estate, while still working in IT.
Celebrating His Values and Service
At an early age, Famous gave his life to Jesus Christ and joined Second Calvary Baptist Church, at 1116 Fontana Avenue, in Charlotte, NC. It was at Second Calvary that Famous became actively involved in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and the Youth Missionary program, where he was a member of the Loyalty Boys and the Knights of Daniel. Famous continued his active involvement at Second Calvary through the years when he served on the Board of Trustees.
Famous' spiritual journey as a servant of Jesus Christ continued when he joined the Bread of Life Christian Ministry. It was at Bread of Life where he was called to become an Elder. In 2013, Famous joined C. N. Jenkins Memorial Presbyterian Church. As a part of the followers of Jesus Christ at C. N. Jenkins, Famous continued his call to serve as an Elder. He was actively involved in the Thursday night Bible Study Class, Centurions Ministry, the Men's Counsel, and the Meal Train Ministry.
Famous loved the Lord and loved studying His Word, which transformed his life. Through his studying of the Word of God, Famous' relationship with the Lord continued to grow. A few of his favorite passages of scripture include Psalm 23, Psalm 121, Psalm 91, Proverbs 3:5-6, Philippians 4:6-7, Isaiah 54:17, Isaiah 40:28-31, and Psalm 27.
Famous loved spending time with family and friends. He loved serving and caring for the needs of others, especially our youth. He was quick to share his wisdom and knowledge, encouraging and inspiring our youth to become all that the Lord created them to become. He expressed the importance of education and the importance to always strive for the best and to never settle for mediocrity. You can ask those who called him 'Grandpa Famous' and any of his nieces and nephews.
