Fannie Mae Reeder Fickling affectionately known as 'Big Mama' and 'Grandma' was born March 27, 1932 in Newberry County, Newberry SC to George Reeder Sr. and Elizabeth Werts Reeder. As a child, she was educated in the Newberry County Public School System. She always wanted to be a hairdresser and was very talented in doing so as well as being an amazing cook and baker. She moved away from Newberry at an early age and eventually relocated to Buffalo, New York in the early 1950's. She met and with her union to Callie Fickling they raised and nurtured 6 children. She was a very active member of her church family and loved serving on the Pastor's Aide Committee. She always said when she died, she wanted a pastor's reward from the Lord so she diligently served and supported her pastors over the years. She was predeceased by her parents George Reeder Sr. and Elizabeth Werts Reeder. She was also predeceased by her 9 siblings (George Jr., Fredow, Albert Sr., James, Johnny, Olin, Lucinda, Leoma & Mabel), her loyal husband (Elder Callie Fickling Sr.), her adopted daughter (Claudia Patterson) and her beloved grandson (Callie James Green). Big Mama, leaves to cherish her memory her children Stanley, (Lasetta & John), (Cecil & Francine), (Callie Jr. & Rosalyn), Lisa and Sophie, her (18) grandchildren, (28) great grandchildren and (2) great, great grandchildren, a host of nieces & nephews, a god daughter of Buffalo, NY (Tania) and numerous church family, members, and friends. Mother Fickling, aka (Big Mama) as she was fondly known by many, will always be remembered as a very straight forward woman who had no problem putting you in your place when wrong and loving on you when you were right. What you saw is what you got! She always kept things real from her perspective. She will be sorely missed by many.
