Mrs. Frances Davis Cathey, 82 of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday April 25, 2019 at Atrium-University, Charlotte.  She was born to the late Lonnie and Gennie Davis on January 23, 1937 in Gibson, South Carolina.  She attended Second Ward here in Charlotte.  Frances worked in housekeeping and she was also a caregiver.  She worked at Presbyterian Hospital for over 20 years.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Gennie Davis; husband, Thomas Lewis Cathey; six brothers, John P. Davis, William E. Davis, Lonnie Davis, Jr., Joseph P. Davis, Jesse Davis, all of Charlotte and Charles J. Davis of Raeford, NC; sister, Jennie Davis of Charlotte, NC and two daughters, Eunice Cathey and Mae Frances Cathey.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: two sons, James E. Davis (Jo Ann) and Thomas Lewis Cathey; one daughter Thomasina Cathey; one brother, Fred H. Davis; sister, Bessie M. Foster, two sister-in-laws, Alberta Cathey-Allison and Lucille Davis; fourteen grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
