Franklin Delano Dunham, affectionately known as "Stuff", was born August 23, 1933 in Rutherfordton, NC. He departed this life on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Peak Resources in Charlotte, NC.
Franklin was the son of the late Abb McDowell and Mozelle Dunham-Lytle. He attended Grahamtown High School in Forest City, NC. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and was awarded two bronze metals for his service in the Korean War. After his military service, he met and married Earnestine Early Dunham.
Over the course of his life he had several different jobs, from substitute teacher to working/owning his own company, "Dunham & Son." Franklin was a kindred spirit who was always upbeat and he never met a stranger, nor was he short on words. He was well known by everybody for his style of dress from from his hair to his shoes. He make sure everything was perfectly coordinated. But more than his style, he absolutely loved everything about motorcycles. His choice was Harley Davidson. He was an avid rider and member of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club of Charlotte, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ernestine Dunham and sister, Cordelia Lytle.
Franklin leaves behind to cherish his memories his partner of over 40 years, Edna Davis; his loving sister, Sadie B. Nabors; four sons, Gerald Dunham (Jean), Franklin Dunham (Sharon), Donald Dunham (Belencia) Denardo Dunham (Rochelle); four daughters, Sandra Odusanya, Eleanor Dunham, Sabrina Small, and Dana Denise Dunham; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; goddaughters, April and Amaiah McKoy; his best friends, Mr. Dean Cornell and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Zimmerman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
