Fred Ardrey Jr., 97, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.

Fred Ardrey, Jr. passed peacefully at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC, on January 17, 2026. He was surrounded by his daughter, Katherine, his dog Cookie, and other family members.

Fred was born February 26, 1928, but earlier years, he celebrated his birthday on February 22, 1928. He attended Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in his earlier years. He graduated from Plato Price School and attended North Carolina A&T College in Greensboro. He worked and retired from Leaksville Woolen Mills in 1981.

Fred was known for his beautiful flowers, vegetable garden and green lawn. He won “Yard of the Week” and “Yard of the Month” several times in the Dalebrook Community. He had a beautiful contagious smile that lit up the room. Fred loved sports, college and professional basketball, with three televisions going all at one time for all coverage of sports. He was an amazing son, husband, father, grandfather, and neighbor.

Fred Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelrine; his parents, Fred Ardrey, Sr. and Antha Cathey Ardrey; sisters Arnether, Kathleen, Gertrude, Mary Ruth; brothers, John, Edward; and son, Fred III.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Katherine; his dog Cookie; brother, Herman Lee and a grandchild. He leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
