Mr. Fronice "Butch" Lockhart Jr. 68 of Charlotte, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Atrium Health-Main.  He was born July 26, 1951 in Charlotte, NC to the late Fronice and Louise Durens Lockhart.

Butch was educated in the Public Schools of Mecklenburg County and graduated from Harding High School in 1969.  In 1971, he was drafted into the US Army but chose to serve in the US Air force.  After obtaining an Honorable Discharge, he graduated from Johnson C. Smith University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing.  He retired from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools in 2016.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  Butch enjoyed watching football and basketball on both the collegiate and professional level with his son and grandsons.  He found great pleasure cheering for his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews in all of their athletic activities and encouraging them in other pursuits.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his brothers, Jeffrey and Paul Lockhart.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Aileen; two daughters, Yolanda L. Nesmith of Atlanta, Ga., Tamara D. Stancil of Charlotte, NC and one son, Derek C. Lockhart of Charlotte, NC; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five sisters, Cora L. Alexander (Alan) of Franklin, TN, Shirley D. Lockhart of Salisbury, NC, Angela Westbrook (Eric) of Charlotte, NC, Roberlina L. Milton, also of Charlotte, NC and Priscilla E. Lockhart of Trenton, NJ, eight nieces, eight nephews, seven great-nieces, four great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
