Ms. Gail Yvonne Stovall (Gulliver), was born in Yonkers, New York on April 10, 1937, the first of two children born to the late Winifred Elaine Gulliver and Charles Roland Gulliver.
Gail grew up in Yonkers, New York and was educated in the Yonkers Public School System. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955. Gail was united in marriage to John H. Stovall, Jr., on December 21, 1959. This union produced a daughter, Joycelyn Anne, and a son John Henry, III, who passed away shortly after birth.
Gail worked for the New York Telephone Company in Yonkers, New York for several years. in the early 70s, Gail went to work for the Ciba-Geigy corporation in Ardsley, NY in the Telecommunications department. She worked there until her retirement in 1990.
As a young woman, Gail accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was a pioneer member of the Community Memorial Baptist Church in Yonkers, NY. Gail was involved in all facets of the church throughout the years, and she served on numerous boards and ministries in many different capacities. Just to name a few, Gail served as a Pastoral Administrative Assistant, Church Secretary, Scholarship Committee member, Church History committee member, President of the Senior Choir/Chancel Choir, Vacation Bible School Coordinator and Teacher, Sunday School teacher, and Pastoral & Church Anniversary Chair and Member. In 1986, Gail was ordained as a Deacon and served on the Board on the Board of Deacons. Gail loved the Lord and was truly a dedicated and faithful servant doing God's will.
Gail loved being with her family for gatherings, cooking (she was a fabulous cook), traveling and everything involving her church.
After a long illness, God called Gail home on June 29, 2023. Although Gail didn't always feel well physically, she continued to enjoy her life as much as possible. She enjoyed putting on a nice outfit, wearing her favorite jewelry her hair done. She also loved socializing with her friends, doing her word puzzles on her Kindle, and playing bingo.
Left to cherish her precious memory are daughter, Jocelyn Meggett; son-in-law, Tharin Meggett,; grandchildren Tharin Meggett II (TJ) and Darien Meggett; sisters Juanita Rhump. and Noella Gulliver; brother Charles Gulliver (Robin); niece Elaine Baptiste; great0niece Nia Baptiste; cousins Aleita King (Dennis), Symra Bandon (Turhan); a godson Timothy Petty; second daughters Laurie Gray (Dwight) and Katina Edwards (Deyane); and a host of relatives and dear friends.
Gail was predeceased by her parents Winifred Gulliver and Charles Gulliver, son, John Henry Stovall III, and brother, James Gulliver.
