Mr. Gary Taylor, 75, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Novant Presbyterian Hospital.

Gary Taylor, "Papa" as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren, was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on June 2, 1949, to Excell and Elizabeth Watt Taylor.

Gary was a 1967 graduate of West Charlotte High School, home of the Mighty Lions. He retired in 2009 from Hoechst Celanese after 30+ years of service.   Gary was married to Elizabeth "Chantale" Taylor for 52 years.

Gary enjoyed watching sports and the Western Channel.  He was an avid history enthusiast, most of all watching the news and current events.  Gary especially enjoyed spending time with his friends watching sports.  In his early years, he spent his weekends playing softball.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Excell Taylor and Elizabeth Watt Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Chantale Taylor, of the home; sister Carol Taylor Jackson (Thomas) of Charlotte, NC and brother, Donald Taylor of Tennessee; two adult children, Denise Henry (Avery) of Snellville, GA and Gary Thomas of Charlotte, NC.  He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Arin and Taylor Henry of Snellville, GA and Ayanna Mackey of Charlotte, NC; a niece, Asanté Conyers (Michael) and nephew, Adonté Young, both of Charlotte, NC; and a host of aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
