Obituary

Rev. George St. Clara Brooks, 69 of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Atrium Health-Pineville.  He was born in Brooklyn, NY the eldest son of late William Brooks and Mamie Bell.  His parents passed when he was very young, and he was raised and cared for by his Aunts.

George's passion in life was first his love of God, working hard to support his family and serving others.  While attending Wingate High School he enrolled in a program that allowed him to work at Citibank.  After graduating he was hired full time at Citibank and continued his education with Cornell College Management through Citibank.   He worked with Citibank for 40 years and retired as an Investigation Manager.  George also had an investment business of buying homes, renting, and selling on Long Island and Queens.

George met his wife Catherine when he attended service at Miracle Chapel Deliverance Church in Queens, NY.  Working in the church faithfully he became a Deacon and devotion leader.  Later in life his passion called him to ministry, in which he enrolled in Loving Life Ministries in Garden City, NY and was ordained in 1998.  George became one of the Founders and Spiritual Directors of Sacred Light Fellowship in New York, from 2000 to 2012.

George had a passion and love for serving his community.  He worked as a Axillary Police Officer with the Nassau County Police Department in Long Island for over 20 years.  Before retiring he became Axillary Captain.

George's union with Catherine blessed him with three children.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sherrie E. Brooks; son, George T. Brooks; his father, William; Mother, Mamie; his brother, Collins; and his sisters, Denise and Margaret Ann.  He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Catherine; son Joseph; sisters Delores and Sherrie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, Godchildren, aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
