George R. Setzer, age 88, died peacefully on June 15, 2020 while at Atrium Health-Main in Charlotte, NC.

George Ray Setzer of Charlotte, NC was born March 29, 1932 in Gaston County to Sylvester Setzer and Katie Williams Setzer. He graduated from Highland High School of Gastonia, NC in 1951. He attended Johnson C. Smith University of Charlotte, NC and graduated in 1958. He taught school for 28 years between Lincoln and Mecklenburg counties in North Carolina.

George is proceeded in death by parents Sylvester and Katie Setzer; 3 brothers ( S.M, William, and Lenleslie); and 8 sisters (Mary Lee, Marion, Martha, Vergie, Teresa, Inez, Carlene and Evelyn).

George is survived by his wife, June Reeves Setzer of Charlotte, one son, Wayne (Lynn) of Mt. Holly, and one brother, Robert (Josephine) of Gastonia, NC. He has one grandchild, Cameron, and a host of nieces and nephews.
