George Jonas Springs, 70, of Charlotte, NC, was born on October 15, 1955, in Mecklenburg County to the late George Springs and Mary Elizabeth Huff.  He departed from this life to eternal rest on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Novant Health Presbyterian Center in Charlotte, NC following an extended illness.

Jonas as he was called by his family, attended West Charlotte High School.  He attended Central Piedmont Community College to obtain his GED.

George was a veteran of the United States Army.  For several years, George drove for the Scholastic Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a foreman/painter for 15 years at Coatings 2000 Charlotte. For over 30 years, George was self-employed and did home improvement.  He enjoyed working on cars, grilling and cooking with his brother-in-law, Aundray Phronebarger. George also loved his dogs, gardening and decorating for Christmas.

At a young age, George attended Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as his Personal Savior. He later attended Woodland Presbyterian Church for several years.  He loved the Hymn Choir.

George met and married Felicia Phronebarger on February 22, 2014.  They were married for eleven years.  They share five children, Yolanda Gholston (Rickie), Bernard Melton, George Springs (Teontra), Nathaniel Springs, and Jeremiah Phronebarger.

George leaves to cherish his memory four sisters, Ollie Huff, Judy Chambers (Edward), Georgiana Springs Adair, Mandalyn Mingo (Frank); seven grandchildren; a special niece and caregiver, Makiah Phifer (Banana); mother-in-law, Brenda Haywood; two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
