Sister Gladys Viola Smith, 64 of Charlotte, safely arrived in Heaven on Monday August 10, 2020, where she is now at peace forevermore.  She was born October 17, 1955 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Mr. Odell and Mrs. Martha Ison.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Brunson.

Gladys was educated in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and later attended Nevins Vocational Center.  Sister Gladys joined Seigle Avenue First Church of God where she accepted Christ as her personal Savior.  She later joined Greater St. James United Church of God where she was actively involved as a member of the Usher Board, and was affectionately known as the "Candy Lady."  Sister Gladys loved the Lord, reading her bible, attending Sunday School and listening to gospel music.  Her favorite scripture was 2 Chronicles 7:14.

She leaves to cherish her memory; one loving sister, Sarah Brunson; Mother Mildred Hall; Derrick Hall; Linda Henderson (her CNA of 16 years); Romona Henderson; Adrenne Turner; Minister Roberta Ervin; Robert Ervin; Valerie Douglas; along with her church family and friends.
