Obituary

Mrs. Glenda Faye Long, 60 of Charlotte, departed this life on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Atrium Health-Mercy.  She was born on June 25, 1960 in Charlotte, NC to the late Josephine and Brice Carter.

Mrs. Long was married to Willie Long III and parented three children, two daughters and one son.  Mrs. Long was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby K. Carter and Thomas J. Carter.

She was educated in Mecklenburg County Schools and attended Hamilton College where she earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration.

She dedicated her life to being a homemaker, taking care of children was her passion.

She accepted Christ at an early age while her family worshiped at St. Paul Baptist Church.  She was known for her warm personality and for being a second mother to most.

She loved to take care of others and always dreamed of having a huge family of her own.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, mystery games, popcorn, cooking, listening to Luther Vandross and Anthony Hamilton.  She always put others before herself and made sure everyone around her was happy and well taken care of.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Willie Long III; two daughters, Aliyah B. Long and Lanesha Y. Long  one son, William E. Long IV; all of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Ricky L. Carter of Charlotte, NC and Vernon E. Carter (Laura) of Davidson, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
