Glinda would often say, "Nothing Before Its Time!" On Tuesday, September 8, 2020 Glinda received her wings, and her beautiful spirit went to join our Savior in an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands, but whose builder is God.
Glinda Ann Smith, daughter of the late Israel and Mildred J. McGill, was born on June 6, 1949 in Kingstree, SC.
Glinda grew up in Brooklyn, New York. She fell in love and married Rogelio "Smitty" Smith in 1977, and raised two beautiful daughters. They enjoyed a life together of forty-three years. Glinda graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School and pursued further education at Heffley & Browne Business School. She was employed by the United States Postal Service and retired following more than 20 years of service. After retiring, Glinda spent her days traveling, planning family gatherings, sewing, reading, and growing in her relationship with God.
Glinda was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 Woman! She was a woman of virtue and character who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Glinda was clothed with strength and dignity. She listened and spoke with wisdom, grace and love. Glinda will be best remembered for her love and commitment to her family. Her spirit made all who knew and met her feel loved, respected and valued. Glinda was unpretentious and had a heart for people. She was aware of those around her and gave generously to those in need. She embraced God's grace, while fulfilling God's call on her life. Glinda had peace, and she did not fear death nor the future. Her work on earth and the legacy she leaves behind surely praised her into the pearly gates of heaven. Well Done! Glinda was proceeded in death by her parents, Isreal and Mildred McGill; and her siblings Frances O'Neal McGill and Rosa Lee Pope.
Surviving loved ones, who will forever cherish Glinda's memory and legacy are: her loving husband, Rogelio "Smitty" Smith of the home; two daughters Tasha Davis (Steven) and Kamilah Stowe (Roger) both of Charlotte, NC; three grandsons, Tyaire Dent, Hassan Stowe and Isaiah Stowe; five sisters, Faith Chapman (Gary) of Bishopville, SC, Adriane Granum of Newark, NJ, Elaine Diggs (Lylwellyn) of Ozone Park, NY, L'Oreal McGill-Harris (LaShae) of Charlotte, NC, and Twana McKnight (Cory) of Aberdeen, NC; one brother, Elijah McGill of Kingstree, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
