Gloria "Glo" Jean Able Faulkner, 67, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully Christmas Day, December 25, 2019 at her residence surrounded by family.
"Jean" or "Glo" as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Willie and Marie Able on a beautiful fall day, September 13, 1952.
As a child, she matriculated through the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, graduating from West Charlotte High School in 1970. Meeting as young playmates, she later fell in love with her soulmate, Donald F. Faulkner. The courtship lead to a lovely garden wedding on July 27, 1974. She welcomed to their union Gregory and Damiko Faulkner, and extended love to her stepson, Reginald Williams. A hard and dedicated worker, Gloria worked for Bellsouth for a number of years and retired from the Charlotte Observer in 2007 after 15 years of service. Her quiet spirit lead her to be very patient and a good listener. She also possessed a welcoming spirit, being a great hostess to the many card parties over the years. Fellowshipping with family and friends was just as important in her walk with Christ. She loved worshiping at Ben Salem Presbyterian Church, shepherded by her son, Reverend Damiko Faulkner. Pride in her children could not be doubted, but the sheer joy of her grandchildren was unmatched. She was the happiest grandmother on earth. Gloria's smile was made brighter and wider in the presence of her grandchildren from the oldest of the youngest.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Charles Able and sister-in-law, Beverly Able.
She leaves to fondly cherish her memories, her husband, Donald Faulkner; sons, Gregory Faulkner, Damiko (Niche') Faulkner; stepson, Reginald Williams; brothers, Pete Able and Michael Able; sister, Marion Brooks; grandchildren, Logan, Layla, Lexton, Channing Faulkner and Cordaryl Williams; sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Cooper, Mamie (Joseph) Cuthbertson and Sherry Faulkner; brother-in-law, Carl Henderson; and a host of uncles, aunts, beloved relatives and friends.
