Ms. Gracie Douglas Harper, 82 of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 6, 2019 at her residence. From her birth on April 4, 1937 to her death, she nourished people around her with laughter, food, love and music and her love of GOD.

Gracie was born to Samuel Douglas and Alean Ferguson Douglas and was the most vivacious of all the Douglas children.  After graduating from West Charlotte High School as the age of 18, Gracie left Charlotte, North Carolina and moved to Brooklyn, NY.  During her time in New York, she spent time with friends and family.  During the late 1980's, Gracie relocated back home to Charlotte to care for her mother, Annie Lou Brown (Aunt Doll).

She enjoyed watching all sports, especially football and basketball.  Gracie was a huge fan of Kobe Bryant.  She also enjoyed taking trips to Asheville to the casinos with family. Gracie loved shopping and going out to eat with her sisters. Her favorite accessory was the watch.  She also was an avid bowler and was the HANDS DOWN best Spades player in the entire family.

Gracie will be remembered as a vivacious, funny, beautiful, "no nonsense" woman who would always take you in with open arms and a delicious meal.  She was the light and love of this family and she will forever be remembered as all of our favorite person!

Gracie preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Samuel Douglas, Bill Douglas, James Douglas, and her husband Randolph Harper.

Left to honor Gracie and remember her love are her three sisters and brother, Annie (Billie) Thomas, Edna (Bumpsy) Springs, Jacqueline (Mac) King, Kenneth (Linda) Douglas; three sisters-in-law, Mary Douglas, Evelyn Douglas and Ella Douglas; and her love, Darryl Helms.  Gracie, a.k.a. Killa, has a beloved host of nieces and nephews whom she helped raised and instill strong values of family and love.
