Mr. Grant Peraz Able, 67, of Catawba, SC, departed this life on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Piedmont Medical Center.
Grant Peraz Able was born November 27, 1956 to Sarah and Willie Able. Grant departed his earthly life on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Grant's first born son, Ranuale Able, and his mother, Sarah Davis Able, preceded him in death.
Grant (aka Peraz and Ole Timer) attended West Charlotte High School and Central Piedmont Community College. He was a highly skilled master mechanic and the owner of Able's Auto & Truck Technician Service. After he retired, he was asked to help with the operations at Chuckeez Automotive.
Peraz LOVED drag racing and was well known at drag strips in and outside of North Carolina. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. After his health started to fail, he enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching the cars pass or on the swing in his backyard enjoying nature.
He is survived by his partner of 30 years, Virginia Cousar. He leaves behind sons, Tyrone Able (who shares his love of drag racing) and Grant Smith, both of Charlotte, NC. He was much loved by his daughter, Jamise Dieme (Assane) of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; Virginia's children to include her son, Edward Cousar, her daughter, Deborah Saunders, both of Charlotte, NC. He had a strong bond with his granddaughters, Laundyn Smith and Diodio (pronounced JoJo) Dieme; grandsons, Tyvonne Reid and Michael Gilchrist, and Virginia's grandson, Brett Saunders.
He will be missed by his father, Willie Able, of Salisbury, NC; sister, Denisa Berry of Charlotte, NC, brothers, Willie B. Able (Benita) of Salisbury, NC and Vincent Able of Charlotte, NC. He will be missed by Virginia's siblings to include Ruth Teachey, Elder Joseph and Sheila Dixon, Sandra Mays, Terry-Ann and Craig Moore, Myrick and Val Dixon, Velma and Tommy Strickland, and Virginia's nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was deeply loved by his aunts, Isabelle Able of Paterson, NJ and Mamie Hunter of Fort Washington, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
