Mr. Gregory Johnson, 57 of Charlotte, NC departed this life on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his residence.
Gregory C. Johnson passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, May 7, 2023, at his home in Concord, NC. He was 57 years old. He was born on June 21, 1965, son of Judith L. Johnson and the late Ronald M. Johnson.
Greg was educated in Hempstead Public Schools and Nassau Lutheran School in Mineola, NY. In 1983, he graduated from Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, NY. He then earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. He began his working career as a substitute teacher at Hempstead High School in New York. He then worked with Allstate Insurance in Melville, NY, followed by a banking and finance career at Chase Bank, First Card Company, and First Data Company.
In November 2013, Greg relocated to Concord, NC with his family. In Concord, he worked most recently with Polymershapes where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
He was married to the love of his life, Deidre Reed Johnson in 1994. Their relationship was one based on love, friendship, laughter, honor and respect. Together they had two children, son Cayman Clarke Johnson and daughter, Milan Alexes Johnson.
Greg enjoyed music and sports. He played and excelled in basketball in elementary, high school and college. He enjoyed watching professional basketball, especially the Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors.
At the center of Greg's life was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Upon moving to North Carolina, he joined Have Life Church in Charlotte where he served in the media ministry.
Greg will be remember most for his love of God, his deep love and devotion for his family, and for his kind heart and loving spirit. He was a great inspiration to many people.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Johnson and his brother, Gordon Johnson. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Deidre Johnson; son, Cayman Johnson; daughter (his princess), Milan Johnson; mother, Judith Johnson; brother, Gary Johnson (Marlene); sister-in-law, Sheila Johnson; mother-in-law, Jeaniece Edwards; father-in-law, William Coleman, Sr. (Shirley); brothers-in-law, Joseph Coleman (Shantile), William Coleman, Jonathan Edwards (Ada), Bill Coleman, Sudan Coleman and Stephen Roberts; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
