Mrs. Growvina Lockhart Miller (Grow, Big Ma), 90 of Charlotte, departed this life on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Novant Health Main.  She was born May 13, 1932 in Anson County, NC to the late John and Mary Ella Lockhart.  She moved to Charlotte, N.C. where she joined together with Carl Roosevelt Miller for many years before moving to Newark, N.J.

Growvina worked as an In Home Nurse's Assistant with Total Care until she retired.  Carl Roosevelt Miller worked at John D. Bianco Construction and New York Housing Authority until he retired.  They returned to Charlotte, N.C. to be closer to family and relatives.

Growvina became a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking and traveling, planting and gardening, bowling, bingo, and gambling.  She loved spending time with family and friends.

Preceded in death by parents, John and Mary Ella Lockhart, Viola Audrey Rothchild (1985), Carl Roosevelt Miller (2004), Daniel Fitzgerald Audrey (2009), one brother, and six sisters.

She leaves fond memories: two daughters, Claudetta Lockhart and Katrina Miller; four sons, Gerald Lockhart, Ralpheal Miller, and Darrin Miller, all of Charlotte, NC and Jarod McKinney of New Jersey; grandchildren, Terry Lockhart, Tamika L. Curry of Charlotte, NC, Kisha Lockhart of Rock Hill, SC, Destney Heath, D'rell Heath of Charlotte, NC, Artie White and Jarea Bivens of New Jersey; twenty-two great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
