Hardy Allen Bragg, Sr., 95 of Charlotte, passed away to eternal life on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. He was born on October 17, 1926, to the late William and Gracie Bragg in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.
He was educated in the public schools of Virginia. At the age of 18, he moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He pursued biblical studies at Manna Bible Institute.
He was united in marriage to the former Evelyn Bonner in 1953. Mr. Bragg was a member of High Street Church of God and served as chairman of the Trustee Board. He later joined Nazarene Baptist Church in Philadelphia and served as a deacon.
Mr. Bragg served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean Conflict and received an honorable discharge. He completed training at the Philadelphia Government Training Institute in Advanced Successful Supervision and studied electricity at Penn State University, Ogontz Campus. He was an electrician foreman and was employed with the City of Philadelphia for over 30 years.
He retired in 1984 and relocated to Charlotte, NC with his beloved wife, and joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in 1985. He visited the sick and shut-in with Deacon Ligon, volunteered with Security, and delivered Friendship Trays in the community.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Evelyn Bragg; two sons, Hardy Bragg, Jr. (Rosa) of Philadelphia, PA and Kenneth Bragg of Huntersville, NC. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Bragg. He leaves to mourn one grandson, Michael Bragg (Tia) of Hagerstown, MD; one granddaughter, Eva Joy Bragg of Lancaster, PA; two brothers, Calvin Bragg of Jamaica, New York, Norbourne Bragg (JoAnne) of South Hill, VA; and his extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
