Harold Allen, 63 of Gastonia passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Harold James Allen was born on June 1, 1960, in Brooklyn, NY.  He departed this life on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Atrium Health Mercy Hospital after a short illness. Harold attended New Dorp HS in Staten Island, NY where he led the chorus and played in the band.  He was formerly married to Sherrye Allen in July 1980.  To this union was born Deandria Jamese and Harold Jaron.

At a young age, Harold joined Pilgrim Baptist Cathedral under the late Archbishop Roy Brown.  He sang in the choir and played the percussions (congas and drums).  He is heard on the album "Saved and Sanctified" singing the lead on several songs.  Harold also sang with Dunamis and various other church choirs and singing groups.

The Allen family moved to North Carolina where Harold received a two-year certificate for Construction and Maintenance from Pitt Community College.  He worked for several years for Pitt County Schools in Greenville, North Carolina, as a locksmith.

Harold then relocated to New York and was consecrated and ordained as a minister.  At an early age, he heard the call to minister the gospel through music and preaching of the Word.  He was later ordained as Bishop on June 24, 2014 and served as head adjutant under Bishop Mitchell Hudson. Harold was an instructor at the Burrows Divinity Seminary School teaching the Adjutancy and Armor Barrier Class. He also attended the Burrows Divinity Seminary School to be certified in Christian Counseling and was set to graduate June 10, 2023, which will be conferred June 25, 2023 posthumous.

Harold moved back to south to the South Carolina/North Carolina border to be closer to family.  He devoted himself to ministry full time. He assisted various churches pastoring and ministering as was needed. Harold served his home church and Bishop Hudson until his health began to fail.

In addition to his musical abilities, Harold was an avid bowler.  He won both local and state championships in both New York and North Carolina.
