Harvey Javorn Massey, 63 of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday December 14, 2019 at Levine & Dickson Hospice-Aldersgate. He was affectionately known as "Hawk" or "Von", was born on January 7, 1956 to the late Hezekiah and Queen Esther Massey.

Harvey was born in Washington, DC but was reared in Charlotte, NC.  He attended the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.

Harvey was a manager at Tires Gallore until his health began to fail in 2017.  He enjoyed singing and was the lead singer of the group The Black Experience.  His favorite song to sing was "My Girl" by the Temptations, and he enjoyed singing it to his favorite girl, his wife LaRita.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and would often invite everyone over for "cookouts", where he grilled and cooked his famous Blue Crabs.  He loved dogs and would often breed, train and sell them.  He was also an avid fisher.

He was led to the Lord several years ago by his mother-in-law Romaine Worth.  During his time of illness and prior to his death, he reaffirmed his acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Hezekiah Massey, Sr. and Queen Esther Massey; his two brothers, Hezekiah Massey, Jr. and Kenny Ray Massey.  He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, LaRita Worth-Massey; five step children: Angelica Worth, Joel Knox, Faith Strickland (Ahshad), Princess Knox and Dominique Knox all of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Danny Massey of Washington, DC; six grandchildren: Preston, AJ, Princeton, Amir, Alani and Ohana; two nephews, Hezekiah Massey, III (Jamie) and Viccardo Streater (Shponda); two nieces: Tynica Massey and Lakeisha Mobley; and special aunt: Ruth Reed of Washington, DC; a special cousin: Marcus Massey of Charlotte, NC; a special dog: Laurent and a host of other relatives and friends.
