Hattie Valane Cooper, 77 of Charlotte, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 7, 2022 at her home.  She was born May 10, 1944, in Camden, South Carolina to the late George and Anne Williams.

Hattie's parents went in search of a better life landing in Hackensack, New Jersey in 1954.  She and one of her siblings traveled alone, at a young age traveled to Hackensack to join their parents.  Later in the year, the rest of her siblings joined them.  Hattie began grade school in Camden, SC.  She later graduated from Hackensack High School in Hackensack, New Jersey in 1962.

After high school graduation, her career goal was to become a fashion designer.  She attended and received her Certificate of Design from Mayor School of Fashion Design in New York City.

She received her first bachelor's degree from Thomas A. Edison of New Jersey.  She later received another bachelor's degree from Montclair State College.  She then went to complete her master's degree at Rutgers University in Counseling and Social Work.  Hattie's professional work journey was a career in counseling within the Newark, New Jersey School District, eventually ending with working with children with behavioral challenges.  She loved her work and ascended to excellence in all that she did.

She enjoyed adventurous traveling, and she was an avid shopper, shopping at the most exclusive stores in Jersey.  She frequented Lord and Taylor, Sterns, Alexander, and Bamberger's Department Stores.  She loved when her nieces would visit as she would always have the latest fashion items waiting for them.

Hattie loved the Lord and was an integral part of and faithful to her home church, "Faith Temple" in Hackensack, New Jersey.  She received Jesus as her Lord and Savior and faithfully attended church until her illness prevented her from attending.  Preceding her in death are her parents, George and Anne Williams; brothers, James Jackson and George Edward Williams; and her sister, Deloris Jones.

She leaves to remember and cherish her memory with love a brother, John Williams (Rose) of Fontana, California; her special and committed niece, Diann Moore (Garry), who was her faithful and loving caregiver until she was called home; sisters-in-law, Marie Jackson and Laura Williams; and a host of other nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, along with other cousins, sisters-in-love and family members.
