Mr. Haywood Phifer Sr., 90, of Waxhaw NC departed this life on October 3, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Haywood Willie Phifer, Sr., 90, of Charlotte, North Carolina, entered into God's presence on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, while he rested at home with family around him in Waxhaw, North Carolina.

Haywood was born in Mecklenburg County on January 14, 1933, to the late Nathaniel and Albertine Phifer.  In addition to his parents, Haywood was preceded in death by two siblings, Nathan Phifer and Mae Helen Lewis.

He leaves his beloved wife, Dianne, of 61 years, and was a loving father to his children, DeYvonne Cunningham, Tonya Monique (Patrick) Barber, Haywood Willie (Kisha) Phifer, Jr.  Haywood also leaves eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and five great-great- grandchildren; as well as a sister, Geneva Phifer of Kings Mountain, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and friends.

Haywood proudly ran his company, Phifer Refrigeration, for many years and he was a licensed prime refrigeration contractor.

Affectionately known as "Pop" and "Gator" to his loved ones, Haywood possessed a heart that never met a stranger. He was a devout Christian, and his faith was the cornerstone of his life. Haywood was an active member of The Retirees' Group and found joy in volunteering to help the homeless and assisting anyone in need, always accompanied by his infectious smile.

He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but for the love, kindness, and compassion he extended to all he encountered. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and service that will continue to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of knowing him.
