Dr. Hazel Bernice Cobb, 94 of Charlotte, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Atrium Health-Main.

Hazel was born August 9, 1926 in Westminster, South Carolina, the daughter of Bieman and Maggie Guyton Cobb.  After graduating from Seneca High School, Hazel went on to get her B.A. degree from Benedict College, her M.A. degree from Columbia University, and her E.D.S. and ED.D degree from the University of Florida.

Hazel was a believer in Jesus Christ and was active in the Presbyterian church until her health declined.  Hazel enjoyed her family, gardening, playing the piano, and was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Dr. Cobb was a life-long learner and educator.  She started her teaching career at South Carolina State University and ended it when she retired from the University of Alabama after 21 years of service.  She also taught abroad at the National University of Columbia in Bogota, South America.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Louise Cobb and Margaret Holland and a brother, Homer Cobb.

She is survived by a brother, Howard Cobb of Miami, FL; two nephews, Ricky Holland of Gahanna, OH and Wayne "Akil" Holland (Latonya) of Fayetteville, GA; two nieces, Barbara Holland of Charlotte, NC and DeLaine Holland Jones (Carnell) of Normal, IL; and other relatives and friends.
