Helen Vernal Reed, daughter of the late Robert Lee Reed and Helen Adams Reed, was born August 3, 1957 in Clinton, South Carolina. She passed away to eternal life on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Pruitt Health of North Augusta, South Carolina. Vernal was educated in the public school system of Clinton where she attended Clinton High School. Her chosen profession was in health care; she worked as a Home Health Care Aid for many years. She accepted the Lord as her Personal Savior and was a member of the Elzee A.M.E. Zion Church in Whitmire, South Carolina. She later joined Mealing Grove Baptist Church in North Augusta, SC. Vernal dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, Vernal was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Shepherd; one brother, Larry Adams and brother-in-law, Wendell Brooks, Sr. Left to cherish warm memories are her daughter, Deborah Reed and granddaughter, Vanessa Reed of North Augusta, SC and grandson, Jarvis Reed of Charlotte, NC; great-granddaughter, Mykiah Whitlock; sister, Romain Brooks of Columbia, SC; brothers, Vincent Adams and Stanley Adams, both of Charlotte; brother-in-law, Rommie Shepherd of Charlotte; aunt, Mary Jo Adams of Laurens, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mrs. Reed will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Grier Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Beatties Ford Memorial Garden in Huntersville, NC.
