Henry Willis "Big Daddy" Allgood, 85 of Charlotte, transitioned to his heavenly home on Tuesday March 10, 2020 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1935 in Anderson, South Carolina; an only child to Nellie Simpson Allgood and John Allgood, Jr.
Henry graduated from West Charlotte High School on 1954 where he played baseball and football. After graduation, Henry served in the United States Army. While on leave, he met his wife, Sallie Gwendolyn (Flowers)...she saw "this soldier boy" and knew she was in love. Sallie proceeded Henry in death on November 29, 2006.
Henry was a quiet soul that loved laughter, sports, and watching television. Henry began his career in logistics at the conclusion of his duties within the United States Army. Previous employers included Thurston, Helms, Bell, Smith Transfer before his retirement from Yellow Freight in 1995. Unaccustomed to an idle lifestyle, Henry worked part-time with Adesa Auctions for seventeen years.
Henry leaves to cherish his memory four sons; Henry Darryl Allgood (Maxine), Reginald Keith Allgood (Curtissa), Dwayne Pernell Allgood, Sr. (Michele) and Sebastian Allgood (Sophia), twenty grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
