Mr. Henry Edward Grier Sr., 76 of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday September 24, 2020 at his residence. He entered this life on June 24, 1944, in Harrisburg, NC. He was the son of the late Lee Grier and Annie Pearl Davis Grier.
Mr. Grier received a business degree from Central Piedmont Community College. He later became a truck driver for United Parcel Service (UPS) and retired after 35 years. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling and supporting family and friends at different events that may have been going on. He also loved playing the saxophone, keyboard, bass and lead guitar. He was a man of Faith, who believed that Prayer is the key and Faith unlocks the door. He always instilled in his children and grandchildren "Always say what you mean and mean what you say" and "If you don't have nothing good to say, don't say nothing at all." Mr. Grier was not only a member, musician, but was also the Deacon of Zion Moriah Holiness Church in Concord, NC for almost 44 years. Mr. Grier's CB handle name was known as "Night Hawk."
Mr. Grier was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Grier; daughter, Tewanda Grier and brother, Alonzo Grier.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Tramaine Praylow (Titus) and son, Henry E. Grier, Jr. (Angela); grandchildren, Aja Woods, Jayren Grier, Ansley Grier, Titus Praylow, Jr. and Pazley Grier; brothers, Willie Grier (Mae-Helen), Calvin Grier (Gaynell); sisters, Sylvia Harris, Evelyn Robinson (William), Minnie Franklin (Thomas), Mae Grier and Mellena Grier; two sisters-in-law, Annie Grier and Francine Traylor (Matthew); and a host of nephews , nieces,great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews, great-great-nieces and cousins.
