Obituary

The esteemed Henry Lee "Butch" Moore, Jr. came into this world on December 17, 1943. Although he left this world on February 28 , 2022 to be with the Lord, we will remember him as a dedicated Man of God. He was a devoted Deacon at Greater Revelation of Christ Missionary Baptist church for many years. When he moved to Charlotte, he continued to attend services and was known "to always have his Bible in hand" ready for service each week. He read his Bible daily and was an example to others of the importance of keeping God first.

Butch was a member of the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Central State University and attended the University of Miami for graduate school.  He went on to work at Dayton Metropolitan Housing Authority (DMHA) where he ran a "tight" ship" making sure the people's living standards were up to par.  He didn't accept anything less than the best and, without a doubt, many of his residents benefitted from his meticulous care..

Butch LOVED his westerns and he always had his cowboys on the television.  He also loved his coffee and would frequent McDonald's to grab a cup. Even in Charlotte, the staff knew that he needed his coffee and made sure to keep it coming.

While he also enjoyed his alone time, he had a great sense of humor and cherished his family time.  He was also a junk food connoisseur, and you could always find a variety of cookies, chocolate covered nuts and potato chips at his house.  His favorite snack was wavy BBQ chips, but his all-time favorite was Mike Sells Wavy BBQ potato chips, and we included a bag with him today.  He was also particular about his car, and always kept it shiny and clean.

Whether he was known as Daddy, Granddad, Butch, brother, uncle or cousin, we will all remember the great times we had together and can be assured that he is at peace and at home with the Lord, his parents George and Mary Moore, son Terry Moore, and sisters, Patricia Boddie, Betty Coleman, Barbara Henderson and Mildred Williams.

Upon his death, he was discovered with the Bible on his chest, a testament to his dedication to the Lord and a reminder that Christ is our foundation.  His daughters, Merissa Moore, Danielle Ward (Michael), and his honorary daughter, Rhea Moore will continue the legacy of a faith-filled life and share his unwavering commitment to the Lord with his seven grandchildren, Terrel Moore, Ryan Moore, Jasmine Singleton, Angelo Singleton (Kathy), Lauren Ashley Ward, Hannah Gabrielle Ward and Arianna Alexia Ward and his three great-grandchildren, Hannah Catherine Rihanna Singleton, Angelo Jackson Singleton and Aaliyah Natalia Singleton.

Until we see you again, Butch, we love you and you will be missed dearly.  In his last days, he would have said "I am Henry Moore, hear me roar!"
