Mr. Henry Mack Richardson, Jr., 96 of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, after several months of declining health. He died peacefully at home with his children by his side. Born on July 17,1925 in Union County, NC, he was the third child of ten born to Sarah Ann (Robinson) and Henry Mack Richardson, Sr. He attended public schools of Union county and later served in the U.S. Army (July 1944-May 1947) during World War II and received an honorable discharge.
He married the love of his life, Martha Baker, on November 1, 1947 and they made their home in Charlotte, NC. This union was blessed with six daughters, eleven grandchildren, 22 great-grands and two great great-grands. They joined University Park Baptist Church in 1961 where they reared their girls in the admonition of the Lord. He retired in 1990 from Siemens Corp. after many years of service.
Henry was quite the inventor, always making or retooling things-from lawnmowers to walkers-just to make life a little easier. He was the unofficial family historian and could name folks who went to school with him, who married who, when they died, and even who their children married. He loved family gatherings, reunion, fishing, and traveling as his health permitted. Affectionately called June, Daddy, Granddaddy, and PaPa by his family, he lived a long and fulfilling 96 years of life.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife Martha, grandson Adrian Richardson, granddaughter Nicole Richardson, his parents, brothers John Roy, Jimmie, Joe Lee, and Coy Mack as well as sisters Allie Ragin and Carrie Ragin.
He is survived by his daughters Carolyn Mark (Glen) of Greensboro, NC; Barbara Marshall, Brenda Richardson, Gwendolyn Rhynes (Sevonne), Theresa Richardson, and Janice Crowell (Timothy) all of Charlotte, NC; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grands, and two great great-grands, as well as brother Booker T. Richardson, sisters Nettie Blake and Elease Blakeney, sister-in law Estelle Blount, special cousins Colin Sharon Baker, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends-all who loved him dearly.
