Henry Sloan, 59, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
Henry Jackson Sloan, 59, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of innocence, warmth, and a gentle spirit that touched everyone who knew him. Born on May 14, 1966, he was the cherished son of Harry Eugene Sloan, Sr. and Madge Derr Sloan, both of whom preceded him in death.
From an early age, Henry, who lived with intellectual and developmental disabilities, received support and guidance at The Nevins Center and currently, Abound Health, LLC in Charlotte, NC. There, he began building the skills, confidence, and friendships that helped shape his life. He later worked faithfully at Goodwill and other places, bringing dependable effort, kindness, and a bright smile to each task and workplace. In his later years, Henry also found a second family in the home of John and Keisha Anderson, his devoted care providers. Their love, patience, and unwavering support brought him comfort, stability, and a deep sense of belonging. The Andersons enriched Henry’s life with warmth and compassion, creating a home where he was truly cherished.
Known to many as Hank, he brought joy to everyday moments. He was an exceptional bowler, a gift inherited from his mother, and the lanes became a place where his laughter, focus, and competitive spark shone brightly. Hank held a deep love for all animals and found pure delight in spending time with them. His interests were as genuine as they were diverse: he enjoyed Marvel adventures, good food, action-packed TV shows, word searches that challenged his mind, and workouts at the YMCA that kept him energized and strong. These passions were more than hobbies; they were expressions of a life lived with enthusiasm, curiosity, and an open heart.
Henry was also preceded in death by his sister, Constance Renee Sloan, and his brother, Jerry Bernard Sloan (Jessie), losses he carried with quiet resilience.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Wanda Sloan Kimble; his brothers, Harry Eugene Sloan, Jr. (Jeanette) and Gregory Leon Sloan, Sr. (Mary); and a host of nieces and nephews who adored him. They will remember his sweet nature, his bright laughter, and the unique joy he brought into every room. Henry’s life was a testament to kindness, loyalty, and the beauty found in the everyday. Though he will be deeply missed, the memory of his warmth and goodness will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
