Mr. Herman Russell 66, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on June 29, 2013, at Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013, at St. Luke Baptist Church at 12 noon. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12 noon. Interment will be at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Herman Russell, Jr. was born to Herman and Lula Mae Baxter Russell, Sr. on October 25, 1946, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina.  He attended Cabarrus County Schools and graduated from Mecklenburg County Schools.

At an early age, Herman confessed Christ as his Personal Savior and joined the Red Branch Missionary Baptist Church of Mint Hill, North Carolina.  He later joined Rocky Ridge Baptist Church in Concord, North Carolina where Dr. E.R. Kirkpatrick is pastor.  Herman was past president of the Men's Choir, Head Leader of the Senior Ushers, and the Advisor and Coordinator of Happy Land Gospel Singers.

He was employed by Brass Construction and retired from Myers Park Methodist Church.

Herman was a lover of his sisters and one brother, nieces and nephews and church family and many friends.  He loved to travel and sing God's praises with the Happy Land Singers and the Men's Choir.  Herman was saved and converted and truly trusted in Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herman Russell, Sr. and Lula Mae Baxter Russell and two brothers, Baby Boy Russell who died at birth and James Edward Russell.

Left to mourn his passing are sisters, Annie Latimer, Dr. E.R. Kirkpatrick (James), Rev. Mary R. Orr, all of Charlotte, NC, Dr. Hazel R. Keys of Dallas, Texas, and Rev. Margaret Love (Sam) of Midland, North Carolina and Mrs. Brenda Parks (Jack) of Landover, Maryland; brother Dr. Melvin Russell (Barbara) of Charlotte; five nieces, eight nephews, great nieces and great-nephews; his extended family the Jacksons; and a host of loving friends all over the cities to which he traveled singing God's praise.
