Mr. Ivey Junior Guy, 66 of Charlotte, NC., departed this life on Monday, February 27, 2023 at this residence.

Ivey Junior Guy, Sr. was born August 7, 1956 in Pineville, North Carolina to the late Irene McKinney and the late Dorothy Mae Guy-Gates.

He was baptized and was an active, faithful and devoted member of Silver Mount Baptist Church.  He was a Trustee, Greeter, choir member, and was a faithful volunteer in the Food Ministry.  He loved children and was instrumental in the youth sports program for Revolution Park.  He will always be remembered as the #1 Coach.

Ivey believed in and trusted in God whole heartedly.  He attended school in Pineville, NC and Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.  Ivey ultimately went on to join the United States Army and after years of serving his country, he was honorably discharged.  After being discharged, he went on to work at Baxter-Harris.

Ivey met and married the former Bernice Willingham and they were married for 39 years.  The love he had for her was beyond measure.  It was a marriage filled with love and with Jesus at the center of their joy.  To this union, two children were born.  For many years, he helped support a niece and nephew.

Ivey was preceded in death by one brother, James Owen McKinney.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving, faithful, devoted wife, Bernice W. Guy; four children, Dorothy Ann Guy, Ivey Guy, Jr. (Christine), Sharon Guy, Anthony Guy (Sara), all of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Tai'Shia Hardy (Jacob), Tasia Guy, TaDarian Guy; two brothers, Roy Guy (Dina) and Larry McKinney; four sisters, Mary Gabriel (Hubert), Jane Boykin, Vanessa Willingham (Andy), all of Charlotte, NC, Dorothy McKinney of Georgia; one special cousin, Vaser Wright; five sisters-in-law, Elaine Carouthers (Tony), Joyce Carrothers (Raymond), Gail Morris, Diane Willingham, Tammy Willingham; two brothers-in-law, David Willingham (Ola) and Andy Willingham (Vanessa); devoted friends, Mark Williams, Marcellus Hoover and Steve Lamb; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
