Mr. Jackie "Joc" Bennett, 67, of Fort Mill, SC, departed this life on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Atrium- Pineville.
Mr. Jackie Bennett, 67, son of the late, Walter Bennett and Louise Christian Bennett, was born on November 30, 1957 in Thomasville, North Carolina. The family later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. He was educated in the public school system and graduated from Myers Park High School, Class of 1976. Afterward, he attended Central Piedmont Community College, majoring in Art. He transitioned on Saturday, July 5, 2025 in Pineville, North Carolina.
After the death of his father, his mother took her children to church and emersed them into the Word of God and service in the church. The family were members of Myers Chapel F.B.H Church under the leadership of Reverend James B. Robinson. Jackie made a commitment to Christ at an early age. As his faith grew, so did his service. He was later a Junior Deacon. He later joined Faith C.M.E. Church, under the leadership of Reverend Robin Gool and continued with this ministry under the leadership of Reverend A. L. Williams. He was on the Men's Choir and served as a Steward.
Jackie was a man of character, who had a strong work ethic. He was a comic book enthusiast, an accomplished sketch artist and used oil paints. He was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed basketball, and his favorite teams were the Los Angeles Lakers and the UNC Tarheels. He played for his junior high and high school basketball teams, as well as an adult basketball league for several years. He also enjoyed traveling and reading in his spare time. He was an outgoing person, with a great sense of humor, well-liked and a meticulous, sharp dresser.
He was a tractor trailer driver for various companies for many years. He later worked for Charlotte Pipe and Foundry for 24 years until his retirement in 2023.
His days after his retirement were spent with his fiancé, Cheryl, his two daughters, Chasity and Jackelyn, and his only grandson, Jakobe Saint, who was the sunshine of his life.
Jackie was admired by many, never met a stranger, and will be greatly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his fiancé, Cheryl Barber; two daughters, Chasity Barber, and Jackelyn Bennett; his grandson, Jakobe Saint; his sisters, Katherine Criston and Evangelist Pamela Bennett; his brothers, Terry Bennett and Jonathan Bennett; Special niece, Demetria Criston; and niece, Mallory Kinzel; one aunt; Julia Ann Christian, and a host of family and friends.
