Mr. James Barnes Jr., 55 of Charlotte,  affectionately known as James Jr., departed this life on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Atrium Health-Cabarrus.  He was born on February 23, 1966, to the late James Barnes and Virginia Dare Philips in Jamaica, NYC.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Barnes; mother, Virginia Dare Phillips; brother, George McNeill and sister, Annie Deloris Phillips.

James was a devoted father, brother, soldier and friend.  He leaves behind to cherish his memories son, James Barnes III; daughters, Melina Barnes, Jazmyn Barnes, and Angel Barnes; four brothers, Will Phillips, Sr. (Jennifer L. Phillips), Henry D. Phillips, Sr. (Bernice Phillips), Thomas A. McNeill and Raheem McNeill; seven sisters, Denise McNeill, Sabrina Bunting (Rufus Bunting), Mattie J. Barnes, Katina L. Elie, Stacey A. McNeill, Kendra M. McNeill and Jessica A. Pratt (Ezra Pratt).
