James Andrew Carelock, Jr., 52 of Gastonia, passed away to eternal life on March 12, 2020 at CaroMont Health, Gastonia.  He was the son of Mildred Cobb Carelock and James Carelock, Sr., was born September 3, 1967 in Newark, New Jersey.

James attended the public schools of Mecklenburg County and was a graduate of Harding High School.  He also attended Gardner Webb University.  He professed his faith in Jesus Christ and attended different churches where he worshiped Christ. James truly loved the Lord.

He was retired and was an Uber driver part-time.  James completed truck driving school and received his CDL License which he was proud of.  He was a fighter, strong, and continued to strive for greatness until the end of his life.

He was full of life and dearly loved his wife and children.  He smiled when times were good or bad.  James appreciated the small moments of life, to be with family and people who treated him like family.  He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife, Nancy Springs Carelock; children, Jasmine Carelock Harris, Marquise Cureton, Lastarsia Brown, Rico Brown, Jacques Foxx; six grandchildren, Ja'zariya Brown, Gemari Hardin, Germaine Hardin, Semaj Carelock, Ti'Carri Harris and Kennedy Obie; sister, Deborah Barber; brothers, Andrew Carelock, Jahmal Carelock, Clinton Wise; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews and friends.
