James "JD" Edward Davis, 62, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2020. He was born on April 19, 1957 in Hickory, NC, the son of the late Charles Davis and Rosemary Little. He was the oldest of 5 siblings.
James attended Independence and East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, NC where he enjoyed playing football and basketball. He served in the U.S. Army for over 10 years. After the Army, he was employed with the US Post Office for 31 years, giving him over 40 years of government service. James loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and his family dearly. Although James was famously known for being late, he was always there for his family, showing his love and support. He took pleasure in listening to T.D. Jakes at the Potter's House and attended a variety of churches in Charlotte. He enjoyed live concerts, karaoke, red wines, movies, music and was an avid gun collector. He was also a collector of gadgets and could often be found piddling around at Big Lots picking up more gadgets. James never met a stranger and though he appeared to be tough on the outside, anyone who was blessed to truly know him, knows he was a teddy bear on the inside who was loving, compassionate and giving.
James is preceded in death by his father, Charles Davis; and his sister, Sterlina Davis.
He is loving remembered by his mother, Rosemary Little; his daughter, Jaggwee Davis; son, Charles Fedrick; grandson, James "Tiwauni" Murray; finance', Carol R. Sansberry; sisters, Charlotte Davis Love, Jacquelyn Gaston (Keith); Carla Scott and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.
