Mr. James William "Jimmy" Gaddy, 66, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Atrium Health University.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James W. Gaddy, affectionately known as Jimmy, on September 9, 2024, at his home.  Born to the late William Gaddy and Betsy King on February 13, 1958, Jimmy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family.

Jimmy was educated in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and proudly graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1976.  A talented basketball player, he represented his school on the court, always full of energy and passion.  He had a love for life that was contagious.  Whether he was dancing (even if a little off beat), or partying with friends, his joy for living shone brightly.  His annual trips to the beach were a cherished tradition, where he found peace and happiness by the ocean.

One of Jimmy's greatest passions was cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys.  He could always be seen proudly wearing his Cowboys hat, sharing his love for the team with those around him.

Throughout his career, Jimmy worked in various roles, including at NCNB-Uptown, UPS, Rich Plan, and Duke Power.  However, his true passion was driving trucks, a job that allowed him to explore new places and guide others.  No matter where you needed to go, Jimmy could get you there with ease.

Above all, Jimmy was a devoted family man.  His wife, children, and grandchildren were the center of his universe and he spent every moment cherishing them.  His 49-year journey with his loving wife was a testament to their enduring companionship and love.

Jimmy leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Debra; his son, Datione (Visha); his daughter Devonne (Kenneth); and his cherished grandchildren, Skyla, Mason, Heavenlyn, and Kenneth Jr.  He is also survived by his mother, Betsy King; his brothers, Roy, Eddie, all of Charlotte, NC, and Donald of Texas; his aunts, Bernice (Donnie) and Jeanette, both of Charlotte, NC; his sisters-in-law, Annette (Danny), Kathy (Harold), Rita, Sallamondra, all of Charlotte, NC and Kizzie of Atlanta, GA; his brothers-in-law, Cleveland and Carl, both of Charlotte, NC, along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Jimmy's presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.  May he rest in eternal peace.
