Mr. James Oscar Johnson, Jr., 82, of Charlotte NC departed this life on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Novant Presbyterian Main.

Mr. James Oscar Johnson, Jr., son of the late Oscar and Daisy Johnston, was born on April 7, 1941, in Lincoln County. He departed this life on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Novant Presbyterian Hospital.

He completed his education at Reid High School. Oscar started working for CSX on February 3, 1969, and worked there for over 25 years. When his health permitted, he enjoyed attending church at Big Calvary Baptist Church in Edgemoor, SC.

Oscar was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Johnston; mother, Daisy Johnston; brother, J.T. Abernathy, and sister, Dorine Rena Brooks.

Oscar leaves to cherish his memories his son, Rusty Johnson (Pamela); daughter, Yulanda Grey (Joshua); grandchildren, Elijah Grey (Shawntel), Isaiah Grey (fiancée Deja Hall), Lydia Grey, Serenity Ramsey and Alysia Davis; his sister, Velma Conner; sister-in-law, Rosie Abernathy; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Craig and Dot Pope; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
