Mr. James "Gipper" Bernard McCollie, 70 of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday January 19, 2019 at Curis of Charlotte Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center.

James was born on March 12, 1948 to the late Wilbert McCollie, Sr. and Mary Davis McCollie in Charlotte, NC  He was preceded in death by sister, Mary Keenan and brother, William Levern McCollie.

After graduating from West Charlotte High School in Charlotte, NC, James enlisted in the United States Army and became a Spec 4.  He was employed by Grier Funeral Service and McCarroll Catering Service.

To know James was a joy.  He was kind, thoughtful, and always had words of encouragement, a true blessing from God.

James leaves to cherish fond memories his loving mother, Mary Davis McCollie; three daughters, Andrea McCollie Greene (Wade), Erica McCollie, and Rhonda McCollie Strong (Devin); four grandchildren, Da'Nisha Strong, Chaslyn Stanfield, Jarrett Carson and Da'Mia Strong; two brothers Wilbert McCollie Jr., and Raymond McCollie (Julia); one sister, Phyllis McCollie Flax; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
