On June 20, 2020 James "Jim" McNeil (Poojay), passed away peacefully at his home in Indian Trail, NC with his wife Ernestine and family by his side. James was born in Laurinburg, NC and moved to PA for future education.
James graduated high school in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and earned his degree from Temple University. He continued his education and received his Masters at Penn State and Principal certification from Millersville University. In high school and college, he was an active member of the wresting team.
James earned his living as a teacher, educator and served as a state trooper. He also spent time volunteering for several organizations. He served as a state appointed guardian for youth making sure that the best interests of the child were met. He taught Judo which he loved to teach and was an active participant. He was also active in Toastmasters International, a public speaking professional development club.
James was an amazing father and husband and a wonderful Pop-Pop to his grandchildren. James and Ernestine were married in Lancaster PA and moved to North Carolina in 2014 after he retired. He loved to travel, read, visit museums, dance, socialize and spend time with his family.
Those left to cherish the memories of his life include his wife, Ernestine, his children Khadijah and Donald Smith, Alana Allia, Janina McNeil and Terrance Forde, James and Brenda McNeil, Ashley Lewis, and 15 grandchildren along with family, friends, students and fellow educators.
James McNeil will be forever missed and not forgotten. The memories of him will last forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
