Obituary

James Jay Perry, a beloved son, father, and friend, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in Charlotte, NC.

He is survived by mother, Doreatha K. Perry and was preceded in death by his father Willie Perry, Sr.

James leaves to cherish his memory, two beautiful children, son James "JJ" Baker-Perry and daughter, Lauren Baker-Perry. James found immense joy when he interacted and spent time with his children, their bond was a source of pride and happiness.

In addition to his children, James is survived by his siblings, Felix Cohens (Tracy) and Marcia Perry (Nate), Crystal Bell (sister), Lamonica Bell (sister) and Angia Bell (biological mother).

He has also left to cherish his memory, God brothers, Derrick Neal, Julius Griffin, and Dewayne Griffin, and a very special friend, Shontay Morrison. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clinton Cohens, Sr. (Deitra), and Willie Perry, Jr.

James attended Garinger High School and later embarked on a passion for auto mechanics, handyman work, and electrical engineer, earning him a reputation as a dependable and versatile professional. His ownership of Triple M Towing Service further solidified his role as a respected figure within his family and the community. James spent numerous shadowing his father, Willie Perry, Sr., and acquired many of his lifelong skills as an understudy, working under his father.

James is known for his loyalty to those he cherished. He was famous for his signature phrase, "I'm on my way".  These four simple words embodied his commitment to prioritizing the needs of his family and friends above all else. Regardless of his ongoing commitments or obligations, James made it clear that family always came first, and he was ready to drop everything and rush to their side whenever they called.

In his youth, James was heavily involved at St. Paul Baptist Church, as a member of the Usher Board and Sunday School. He was actively engaged in various programs that reflected his strong commitment to faith and community. His early years were also marked by a fervent love of fishing and sports, he was a loyal fan of basketball and the Carolina Panthers, his favorite football team.

James will truly be missed by his friends and family.
