James Eric Potts was born May 22, 1965, in Charlotte, NC, and gained his wings on September 21, 2020.
James Eric Potts, better known as Eric or Big "E" graduated from South Mecklenburg High School. Eric was highly intelligent and had such an analytical mind that was out of this world. Eric Potts attended McClintock Presbyterian Church Congregation during his youth. However, he did not attend church regularly after becoming an adult, Eric well versed in scriptures. Eric believed that if you loved God with all your heart, mind, and soul; if you love others like yourself and help those in need, you will enter God's Kingdom.
After High School, Eric began working at Lance Packing Company. He started in the Peanut Department. After a few years, Eric took to the highways as a truck driver for Lance until his health started to decline. Realizing he could no longer drive again, he retired from Lance. Eric then began employment with American Freight, which is now FedEx. Eric worked for over 24 years at the company until his demise.

When speaking of "Lil Eric," Eric would melt your heart. Eric enjoyed reading, researching all kinds of information. He was known to have some of the most exciting debates about sports, politics, and religion.
James "Eric" Potts is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ellen Potts and James Johnson, and sister, Alberta Hall.
Eric leaves to treasure his memories, child James Eric Potts, Jr. (mother of James Eric Potts, Jr. Tracy Williams), sister Faith King (James), brother Kermit Potts (LaDonna), sister Toyna Potts, sister Jacqueline Rice, and sister Anna Hall. Uncle Weldon Potts Jr., aunts, Neely Christian (Willie), Eva Potts, Janie Thompson, Mary Hill (William), Perline Anderson, Lovenia Anderson, and Willie Mae Kai-Tongi. Nieces, Tasha Wilson (Eric), Shanell Massey (Terrell), Jeanelle Espinosa (Reinaldo), and Jasmine Graves. Nephews, Tyrone Potts, Drazen Ware, Tobijah Speas, and Xavier Graves and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
