Obituary

Mr. James DaShawn Williams, 30 of Charlotte, NC departed this life on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

James DaShawn Williams was born to Linda D. Williams and Ernest J. Squirewell on August 1, 1992, in Charlotte, North Carolina.  James transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

James started daycare at University Park Childcare, then later attended school in the Fairfield County School District and later moved back to Charlotte where he graduated from Harding University High School.  He attended Louisburg College and transferred to Voorhees to graduate with a bachelor's degree in science and sports management.  James had a passion for playing basketball.

James was an active member of Progressive Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He had a passion for music.  He learned at an early age to play the tambourine and later advanced to the bungalow drum and regular drums.  He traveled with his stick to every church he attended with his Nana and Papa.  He didn't mind asking if he could play when there was not a drummer.  He loved his deacons and each one played a major part in his life.

James had a 'Heart of Gold' and never met a stranger.  He was known by many and often referred to as "Little James," "Semaj" (his Louisburg Family), and "BJ" (his Vorhees Family).  He loved spending time with family and friends.  James did not mind lending a helping hand to others.  He had a smile that would light up the room and always was the life of the party.
